TGC for the Troops - Community Outreach

"Please pass on to your Golf Club of Cape Cod membership my heartfelt thanks for the superb community outreach effort and for supporting the men and women in uniform from today and yesterday. May the future years of your club enjoy the rewards of your conscientiousness and kindness."

On July 9, 2012, TGC hosted its third annual  "TGC for the Troops" Heroes Clinic and Tournament,  a charitable golf event to benefit local veterans and active servicemen and women (and their families).  This year, the tournament raised $60,000.  For more information, visit our "TGC for the Troops" page (click navigation on left margin of page).

Proceeds from the event are managed by the Club's advised donor fund (The TGC Fund) through the Cape Cod Foundation.  Anyone interested in accessing these funds may fill out a simple request form and submit it for approval. Specific rules apply.  Contact Club COO Charles T. Passios for more information.

Special Event News:
The Golf Club of Cape Cod is proud to announce that the Massachusetts Golf Association (MGA) has awarded the Club with three prestigious events including its Father/Daughter Championship (August 2013), Mid-Amateur Championship (September 2016) and Massachusetts Open Championship (June 2017).

The Club was delighted to be selected once again, to host the 2012 AJGA Deutsche Bank Partners for Charity Junior Shoot Out,  Click here to view wrap-up video! The Club hosted the event in 2010.  This 54-hole, stroke play tournament features many of the nation's top boys and girls, ages 12-18. Proceeds from the event, sanctioned by the American Junior Golf Association, will be presented to local grassroots junior golf programs.

In 2011 and 2012, The Club hosted the Caron Wood Junior Golf Classic, Tournament of Champions, featuring 39 of the Cape's best junior golfers.  Sanctioned by the Cape Cod Chapter of the NEPGA and sponsored by the Caron Wood Foundation, this event reflected TGC's commitment to junior golf and to instill golf's traditions on new generations.

The Club has hosted the Massachusetts Men's Senior State amateur championship and the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts' 2009 Edith Noblit Baker Tournament.

"Your team of professionals did an outstanding job ensuring that each competitor had a wonderful experience at The Golf Club of Cape Cod."  (download to read entire letter)

Dining in The Grille Room

The Club also offers public guest reservations for dining in the Clubhouse - sharing its distinctive character and world-class approach to hospitality with others. How good is our food? Consider this unsolicited review:

"Just a note from a former cook (Olives in Boston) about our dinner this past Saturday night. I was part of the party of 15 with the rest of my family. We are not members, but availed ourselves of the opportunity to come in for dinner.

In a word, dinner was SUPERB! Honestly, everyone raved about every dish. My bouillabaisse was better than one I had in Marseilles a few summers ago. The Thai and citrus touches to the fried calamari were wonderful and the shiny shellacked short ribs were perfect. I could rail on, but I really just wanted to go out of my way to let you know how good I thought everything was.

Forget the club food chatter, our meals were better than anything I've had at ANY restaurant in a long time. We live in Boston and my favorite food in the city at any price point is at Dave DuBois' The Franklin Cafe. There isn't a place in Boston I haven't eaten at (except for Barbara Lynch's new $150.00 per person prix fixe Menton that won't be seeing my face anytime soon), and you're as good as any I've been to. Club management is nuts if they don't try to brand themselves on your talents to increase membership (a la Rachel Klein and The Seaport Hotel). One of the reasons I've always dreaded visiting on the Cape (family in Pocasset) is that there's nowhere decent to eat....until now. No more Chart Room; no more Brookside; no more Chapoquoit Grille. I will visit more often!

Keep up the good work. I'm a member at (Club name withheld) and thinking of bailing as my wife and I spend more and more of our time at our place in Westport. Although it's a bit of a drive from Westport, your food might have me looking at TGCCC in a year or two."

One member writes,

I would like to thank you and your first rate staff for a tremendous evening celebrating my wife's birthday.  The atmosphere of the private dining room created an intimate setting similar to being in our own home.  The attention of your staff displayed was impeccable and greatly appreciated.  The menu developed was out of this world, Jonathan's presentation and variety of combinations satisfied all.  Our guests still mention the evening with delight whenever we speak with them.”

Among other accolades, Golfweek placed The Golf Club #4 among its ranking of the Top 50 courses.  Visit our "Press and News" page for recent and archived articles about the Club.
